Abstract
Permeability tests provide a key measurement for evaluating the potential leachability of a formation. The mining industry has been slow, however, to adopt permeability measuring techniques available from other disciplines. The Bureau of Mines recently sponsored a survey of available field permeability techniques to determine their applicability in evaluating leachability. This paper describes use of survey results to select an appropriate test method, conduct and analyze permeability tests, and procure the necessary field equipment.
