Alternative Coal-firing Methods for Indurating Iron Ore Pellets.
Min Cong J 1978 Jun; 64(6):19-26
The paper summarizes data derived from pulverized coal-firing research conducted at the Bureau of Mines, Twin Cities Metallurgy Research Center, with both a gun-type "suspension" burner for direct firing of iron ore pellets in a rotary kiln and a cyclonic-type "slagging" burner for firing an external combustion chamber to generate hot gases for use in a shaft or straight grate pelletizing furnace. Recent research on coal utilization for iron oxide pellet induration in the grate-kiln and straight grate systems is also discussed.
