Work at the Albany Metallurgy Research Center, Bureau of Mines, has produced some highly selective coatings consisting of semiconductor films on a silver reflective base. The films were produced by vacuum sputtering, a process reported to be quite economical on a commercial scale. Other coating processes may also be applicable. This paper describes the spectral characteristics of some of the selective absorbers developed.
