Abstract
An eastern province coal having a high ash fusion temperature was employed as a substitute for natural gas in the grate-kiln induration of iron ore pellets. Other coals having ash fusion temperatures lower than or coincident with the 2,400 deg f employed in pellet induration caused a varying degree of ringing within the kiln interior.
