Extraction processes for low-grade ores.
Min Eng 1975 Jun; 27(6):42-47
The U.S. mineral supply picture is steadily deteriorating in light of declining domestic ore grades, environmental awareness, and changing energy use patterns. Research and development activity by the Bureau of Mines is directed toward the processing of lower grade resources to bridge a projected demand gap. Included is a discussion of research on nonmagnetic taconite, nonbauxitic alumina, copper, ilmenite, gold and silver, lead-zinc, phosphate and fluorine, and nickel.
