Abstract
Attrition milling has been demonstrated as a potentially useful method of reducing ceramic powders to particle sizes ranging from 0.1 to 0.01 Um. Techniques, equipment, and such operating variables as rotor speed, grinding media, and energy consumption are described. Typical milling performance data on silica, dolomite, barium ferrite, and zirconia are presented. Sintering of attrition- milled zirconia demonstrated the high densities obtainable with relatively low sintering temperatures.
