Abstract
The interaction energies between several asphalts and aggregates were measured with a sensitive microcalorimeter. The difference in intermolecular energy of an asphalt at 150 deg and 200 deg c was measured; the difference was attributed to the asphalt being more associated at the lower temperature. The report proposes a mechanism for asphalt-aggregate interactions and for asphalt intermolecular interactions.
