Abstract
The application of an open pit materials handling simulator to a southwestern surface mine using draglines and front-end loaders is described. The specific objective of the study is to demonstrate the application of the simulator to analyze mine planning and to analyze alternatives for increased production. The simulator was verified by comparing long-term production figures with the simulated results from data collected on a mine visit. Short- and long-term alternatives are studied with projected productivities and scheduling.
