Two-phase Equilibria of Analytical Binary Solutions Near the Critical Point.

Several relationships between coexisting phases for analytical binary solutions near the critical point are given. These relationships were developed from a consideration of a (g, u, p) surface at constant temperature and a (g, u, t) surface at constant pressure, where g is the molal Gibbs free energy, u is the concentration of component 1 expressed as a mole fraction, p is the pressure, and t is the temperature. These formulas should facilitate the calculation of some of the quantities useful in making thermodynamic consistency checks on phase equilibria data about the critical point.
