Performance Characteristics of Coal-washing Equipment: Hydrocyclones.
NTIS: PB 231 282 :22 pages
The performance characteristics of five hydrocyclone coal washers were evaluated to determine the sharpness and efficiency of separation that might be anticipated in commercial operation. The hydrocyclone overflows contained generally good clean coal products that would require little re-treating to remove misplaced high- gravity material. The underflows, however, contained from 63.6 To 36.7 percent of misplaced low-gravity material, which would require secondary cleaning to provide acceptable clean coal yields. Work done in cooperation with the University of Wyoming.
