For a number of years this program has received grant money from the Mississippi Minerals Resources Institute. The primary project funded by this grant has been the production of a mineral law reporter. Entitled the mineral law update, this publication has served practitioners in the oil and gas field by informing them about legal developments related to the exploration and exploitation of oil, gas, and other minerals. In 1989, the program and its publication broadened its scope to include all aspects of natural resources law. The program is now known as the natural resources law program, and its publication is correspondingly renamed the natural resources law update. The update still covers developments in oil and gas law, but now also includes discussions of other aspects of natural resources law--including water and air quality, water rights, waste disposal, timber issues, and all other aspects of environmental law. The new publication endeavors to provide a needed service to all professionals in the natural resources field by providing them with timely information on legal developments in a format that is easily accessible to lawyers and laymen.
