NTIS#: PB 91-136036 Available for Reference At Bureau Libraries :181 pages
This report is a description of a compliance cost methodology for estimating the capital and operating cost requirements potentially necessary depending on future environmental regulations for the management of mining and mineral processing waste material. These cost estimations are then used in estimating the potential economic impact various levels of regulatory stringency may have on the minerals industry. An economic analysis was performed, and is presented in this report, on the potential impact four selected regulatory scenarios may have on the domestic copper industry. The results of this analysis indicate the economic sensitivity the minerals industry will encounter depending on the stringency of the final regulations.
