For Reference Only At Bureau Libraries :276 pages
This report examines the energy input-output involved in mining the chattanooga shale. Phase I proposes various production alternatives, and develops the basic energy-use data for various systems. Phase II involves a computer model which permits design and selection of a wide range of production types and sizes, and the use of the basic energy-use data to determine a net energy balance for specified conditions. Manipulation of the model indicates a positive net energy balance, with the amountof surplus dependent on the production system selected.
