Optimum Reactor Design for the Minimum Heat Waste in the Processing of Lead-oxygen Zinc Concentrates by Chlorine-oxygen Leaching.

This report describes reactor design, energy balances, and experimental observations for the chlorine-oxygen leach of Tennessee zinc and Idaho lead concentrates at elevated temperature and pressure. The heat of reaction of the zinc concentrate was found to be 266 kcal/kg, while that of the lead concentrate was 355 kcal/kg. Rates of heat liberation were also investigated.
