NTIS: PB 274 400 Available for Reference At Bureau Libraries :216 pages
This report attempts to forecast the annual level of investment expenditures in the iron and steel industry through 1985. Unconditional investment forecasts are prepared for various assumptions and projections for steel prices and wages, gross national product growth, import penetration, etc. Conditional forecasts are prepared for changes in tax parameters such as the investment tax credit. Forecasts are presented for net and gross investment levels and for internal funds (retained earnings plus depreciation allowances) available for investment in plant and equipment. External funding for investment is derived as a residual. The forecasts are compared with the projections of the American Iron and Steel Institute and other groups.
