Separation of Copper-nickel from Duluth Gabbro by a Differential Flotation-matte Smelting-matte Separation Process.

An experimental technique for the differential flotation of bulk sulfide concentrates from Duluth Gabbro into copper and nickel concentrates is described. The technique utilizes a two-stage bulk sulfide flotation procedure to obtain a copper concentrate that analyzed 25 percent copper and 0.5 percent nickel, and a nickel concentrate that analyzed 10 percent nickel and about 1 percent copper. As an alternative route, flotation of matte was also investigated.
