In Situ Leaching Studies of Uranium Ores--phases I Through III.
NTIS: PB 272 717 Available for Reference At Bureau Libraries :403 pages
This report describes the characterization and leaching of uranium ore samples from Texas and Wyoming. Leaching with basic solutions was constrained by the kinetics and, with acid solutions, the equilibrium limited the extent of uranium recovery. Permeability changes were also evaluated. In situ leaching for the recovery of uranium offers the advantages of minimum disturbance of the environment, low capital and operating costs, and reduced mining development time.
