Utilization of Mining and Milling Wastes.
NTIS: PB 267 715 Available for Reference At Bureau Libraries :21 pages
The information presented during the 5th mineral waste utilization symposium has been abstracted and summarized. Participants in the symposium numbered 178 persons and represented the United States, Canada, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, Sweden, and Spain. Requirements for recovery of basic material requirements through utilization of solid wastes are based on the rising prices of our imported raw materials and the fact that only 1/10 to 1/3 of the energy is required for recycled metals compared with their production from virgin ore. Studies are presented which stress metal recovery from scrap and mill tailings, energy recovery from municipal wastes, and waste utilization in the construction industry.
