Design Evaluation for Development of an Advanced Bolter Module.

Existing bolter designs were evaluated by FMC. From these evaluations, an advanced bolter module which could be more reliable, easier to manufacture and service, and be more adaptable to a variety of mining conditions may be designed. Five principle areas of significant functional problems for corrective action were identified. These were removing steel from chuck, extending the ram, safety posts, magazine rotation, and the centralizer. The advanced bolter module design changes would be directed toward correcting the above problems.
