Abstract
The Bureau of Mines performed laboratory studies on the effect of system pressure, percentage of injected oxygen, and oil shale grade on the heating value and quantity of offgas produced during in situ retorting. Equations were developed that satisfactorily describe the system and that show that usable low-btu gas may be produced in large quantities under field conditions. Work done in cooperation with the University of Wyoming.
