Mining research and development.
Min Eng 1989 May; 41(5):329-331
This Bureau of Mines article indicates that increased productivity, improved safety, and mitigation of environmental damage were the principal focus of metal mining research and development in 1988. Improvements in large-scale mechanized mining and bulk stoping continued to provide safer and more efficient mining methods. Advances in this technology require better geomechanical design practices and more efficient and more accurate drilling techniques to increase ground stability and minimize dilution.
