Removal of Asbestos Fibers from Water.

Asbestos fibers are removed from water by filtration through a bed of magnesium oxide. Aqueous suspensions (1-10 ppm) of fibers of chrysotile, crocidolite, and amphibole cummingtonite-grunerite were percolated through a 0.5-1.0 Cm layer of mgo. No fibers were found in the effluent water
