High Reliability Miner Hydraulic System. Volume I--part II.

Research was conducted to develop methods for improving the reliability of hydraulic systems in underground coal mining equipment. Major causes of poor reliability were (1) poor overall system design, (2) poor component contamination tolerance, (3) poor system filtration, and (4) poor maintenance practices stemming from a lack of defined maintenance procedures and enforcement of same. Volume i--part II describes the evaluation of valves, the diagnosis of particulate contamination, the realiability analysis of selected hydraulic components of the conveyor and roof drill subsystems of a prototype continuous miner-bolter, and reliability analysis of common continuous miner hydraulic systems.
