Marine Placer Deposits.
Proc 10th Ann Conf Alaskan Placer Mng Alaskan Prospectors Publ Fairbanks Ak 1988 :34-37
Marine placer deposits can be divided into three categories, including modern beaches, ancient beaches (either onshore or offshore), and submarine deposits. Alaska has 54 pct of the coast line and 74 pct of the continental shelf of the United States and contains known marine placers of all three major categories. Recent U.S. Bureau of Mines studies indicate that this area contains enormous potential for new discoveries of industrial minerals, in addition to precious metal marine placers.
