Schultze LE; Bauer DJ; Morimoto MT
U S Pat 4 272 491 1981 Jun; :
Carbonaceous uranium ore is leached at 20-104 deg c in a aqueous solution of ferric salt (preferably the sulfate or chloride) to extract uranium. The salt is used at 0.12-2 Lb/lb ore, optionally with mineral acid at approximately 60 lb/ton of ore. Thus, 200 g of lignite ore containing 0.20 pct u3o8 was slurried in a solution containing fe2(so4)3.9H2o 400 g, water 200 g, and 96-pct h2so4 3.0 Ml, with the addition of dow h-10 as an antifoaming agent. After 3 h at 90 deg-95 deg c, the extraction of u was 98.6 pct.
