Abstract
This report describes the results of a study to provide data that would demonstrate the decomposition of aluminum chloride hexahydrate using the ALCOA flash calciner design, and to show that hydrogen chloride in the off-gas from the calciner could be absorbed into process solutions to effect crystallization of aluminum chloride hexahydrate.
