A probabilistic slope stability computer model was developed at Utah State University and evaluated by CH2M Hill Consulting Engineers as a design and analysis tool. Volume I of this report describes the model and volumes III and IV are users manuals for the computer programs. Volume II (this report) includes a description of a field investigation and stability analysis of an existing tailings dam. Based on the results, the tailings dam was evaluated for redesign using probabilistic considerations. Conclusions are made regarding the usefulness of the model as a design tool.
