Preflush-lixiviant Process for Solution Mining of Uranium Ore Beds.
Breland WM; Guilinger TR; Schechter RS
U S Pat 4 340 253 1982 Jul; :
Leach mining of uranium from ore deposits is made with a carbonate solution (especially containing k2co3) after: (1) the deposit is preflushed with aqueous kcl for pretreatment and cation exchange; and (2) an alkali carbonate solution is injected for flushing out kcl and the ion exchange products (especially ca and mg). The operating and restoration costs are decreased by the kcl preflush, and deposit permeability is not impaired.
