Availability is divided between the general headings of available, available with restrictions, and unavailable. As many as 14 categories of land status have been used to delineate the various degrees of availability for any quadrangle. The mineral deposits plotted on the overlays are identified from the Bureau of Mines minerals availability system (mas) data base. The majority of the listings refer to locatable mineral deposits. A tabulation of the names and principal commodities for each deposit is included.
