How to Lower Methane Concentrations Around Longwall Shearers.
Proc Longwall USA 1986 :357-362
This paper describes how methane levels around longwall shearers can be reduced by directing more available air along the face and over the shearer body during a laboratory evaluation. To address the entire mining cycle, a combination of two techniques is used to dilute and clear the methane liberated by the shearer during cutting. These techniques are inexpensive, easy to install, and require minimal maintenance.
