Causes of coal miner absenteeism.
Pittsburgh, PA: U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Mines, IC 9161, 1987 Jan; :1-45
This report describes several significant problems associated with absenteeism among underground coal miners. The vast empirical literature on employee absenteeism is reviewed, and a conceptual model of the factors that cause absenteeism among miners is presented. Portions of this model were empirically tested by performing correlational and multiple regression analyses on data collected from a group of 64 underground coal miners. The results of these tests are presented and discussed.
