Analysis of Stress Waves Induced from Single Hole Stemmed Blasts.

This report describes a study of the effects of stemming on wave magnitude during blasting in underground mines. Two factors considered were the effects of changing the blast location on the face, and the repeated blasting on a single face. In addition, a laboratory study conducted on polymer models of a mine opening to compare stemmed and nonstemmed blasts showed that stemmed blasts produce lower energy waves than nonstemmed blasts.
