Effect of metal ions on the stability and zeta potential of barite suspensions.

This report describes an investigation into the stability and electrokinetic behavior of barite suspensions in the presence of calcium, magnesium, ferrous iron, and aluminum ions. The presence of hydrolyzable metal ions was found to cause the zeta potential-ph curves to show two charge-reversal values that are dependent on the concentration of salt.
