Should the Discharge Standards for Manganese Be Reexamined?
Kleinmann RLP; Watzlaf GR
Proc 1986 :173-179
This paper examines arguments for reevaluation of the legal limit for manganese concentration in effluent mine water. These arguments include new data on the toxicity of manganese, the effects of the high ph of effluent after the required treatment and its detrimental effects on stream biota, and the problem of the manganese-bearing sludge itself.
