A history of the Bureau's research into the use of advanced technology to enhance training and how it evolved into the use of computer-based training is outlined, and the hardware configuration and the authoring system used to generate course materials is included. Also discussed is the development of the training objectives and the decisionmaking process used to categorize them for either computer or classroom delivery. The paper concludes with suggestions for the use of computer-based training in the mining community.
