New Instrumentation for Roof Bolt Load Measurement.
Proc 8th WVU Int'l Mining Electrotechnology Conf Morgantown West Virginia, 7/30-8/1/86 1986 :109-113
This paper details research by the Bureau of Mines in electronic means to estimate point-anchored bolt loads. A brief history of the techniques under consideration, and the electronic and mechanical development needed to apply this technology to mine roof bolts, are presented. Also included are the results of laboratory and field tests, current and potential applications of these techniques, their limitations, and the development of a multireflector instrument to avoid the cost and accuracy problems of previous roof bolt load measurement procedures.
