Abstract
This report summarizes work sponsored by the Bureau of Mines in the development of a remote operating system (ros) for controlling a thin-seam continuous miner 500 feet or more distant from the extraction face. Details are provided on ros subsystems including the continuous miner, video equipment, controls and displays, the electronic control system, and the operator station.
