These maps show land within 14 Alaskan quadrangles (Bettles, Beaver, Fort Yukon, Black River, Tanana, Livengood, Circle, Charley River, Kantishna, Fairbanks, Big Delta, Eagle, Mount McKinley, and Tanacross) that was open to mineral exploration as of July 1, 1985. As many as 15 other land subclassifications are depicted, as well as restrictions, private lands, and land closed to mining. The mineral deposits plotted are based on the Bureau of Mines minerals availability system (mas). Included are tables keyed to deposit numbers within each quadrangle identifying one or more mineral deposits within a 3-mile radius. The table also includes the mas sequence number (to relate it to Bureau files), major commodities associated with the deposit, and an indicator of past production.
