Machine-Mounted Drill and Cutter Dust Control in Mines Extracting Soluble Ores.
SME of AIME 276:1953-1959
Dust from cutter machines and face drills is controlled in most mines by water. However, the large quantities of water used in metal and coal mines for dust control and suppression pose serious operational problems in water-soluble ores, such as salt, trona, or gypsum. This paper reviews the strategies to suppress and collect dust on cutter machines and face drills where water usage must be restricted to very low flow rates of 3.78 L/min or less.
