This paper describes a study examining the effects of posture on back strength, lifting capacity, and electromyography (emg) of muscles supporting the spine. Isometric and isokinetic assessments were obtained in both standing and kneeling postures and the maximum acceptable weights of lift (mawl) while stooping and kneeling were established for each posture.
