Noise-controlled longwall shearer cutting head.
Ch in "Progress in Noise Control Inter-noise 86 " 1:321-326
A new noise-controlled longwall shearer cutting head is described, highlighting the design steps taken to reduce noise by increasing the stiffness of the helixes and face ring, and by the damping of the core. Test results include measurement of overall noise levels as well as at the lead-drum operator position, the reaction of miners to this new head, and its general performance in cutting coal.
