Abstract
This report describes the design, development, manufacture, and incorporation of noise control features on a jumbo drill and the results of successful tests of this drill in surface and underground mines. The noise-reducing features developed under this program are applicable to future designs of jumbo drills that can be cost effectively manufactured and have the potential to reduce noise levels at the operator's position from 115-120 dba to 95 dba or less without a reduction of currently attainable drilling rates.
