Abstract
Geologic characterization of a deposit prior to leaching or solution mining includes determination of at least the following items in enough detail to be able to specify in a quantitative fashion how each will affect the proposed operation: (1) location and configuration of the deposit; (2) distribution and nature of ore mineral within the deposit; (3) distribution and nature of gangue mineral within the deposit; (4) distribution and nature of natural porosity and permeability; (5) distribution of ore and gangue minerals relative to natural fluid pathways; and (6) state of stress, regional and local. This report looks at each of these items in detail.
