A Spray Fan to Deliver More Air to the Coal Face.
Paper in Proc 1978 :1 pages
The conventional water spray of the sort found on mining machinery is known to move a moderate quantity of air. This research showed that if all of the water sprays on a continuous miner were arranged to act in concert, then a substantial amount of air could be moved to the working face during cutting. The result is a lowering of methane concentrations and greatly reduced probability of face ignitions.
