A computer-based information system for engineering and geological data pertaining to surface mining was developed. The information system is interactive, allowing the user to access all data, analyze data, input new data, and to obtain plots of programs on demand. Five computer programs were developed to access and analyze these data. The programs give results for all engineering tests for each rock type, plots of test results against depth, plots of test results against each other, and geologic descriptions of all cores sampled. A statistical analysis, using multiple-linear regression, hypothesis testing, power analysis, stepwise regression, and model building, was performed on the data generated by this project.
