Abstract
The U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Mines performs research in mining health and safety and productivity as one of its primary functions. Ground support research in these areas ranges from defining geomechanical phenomena to evaluating prototype support systems. This paper provides a limited review of current programs.
