Abstract
This report describes in-mine tests that were conducted at eight mines in the United States to evaluate the novel pretensioned spring ladder design on haulage trucks. The design was initially developed by Woodward Associates, Inc., under a previously completed Bureau of Mines sponsored contract, Bureau of Mines OFR 87-81. The design is intended to improve ingress-egress for haulage truck operators as well as reduce maintenance of lower steps.
