Water Removal from Mine Slimes and Sludges Using Direct Current.
Drying Technol 1983 Apr; 1(1):57-81
Recent tests by the Bureau of Mines have demonstrated the effectiveness of electrokinetic dewatering to consolidate a variety of coal and mineral slimes. Material properties and application methods that affect performance are briefly reviewed, and some operating and proposed field installations are described. Application of the method to other slimes and sludges can best be determined through laboratory testing, but certain physical properties can be helpful predictors of responsiveness.
