Iron and Steel.
MISSING :16 pages
Iron and steel are vital to the United States for both national security and economic well-being. They are the basic metals of any industrial society. Although there are technically acceptable substitutes for many of their uses, in the short term there are no practical substitutes on a large scale because of the cost and lack of availability of alternative materials. This Bureau of Mines report presents comprehensive data on iron and steel including strategic considerations, problems, technology trends and developments, supply-demand relationships, economic factors and problems, operating factors and problems, and outlook to 2000.
