Abstract
This report comprises the total productivity of a series of related investigations performed during 1971-79. The first phase concentrated on the analytical studies of techniques relevant to mine rescue. The second phase dealt with the fundamental character of how electromagnetic waves propagate in mine tunnels. The third phase was devoted to the analyses of various specific geophysical engineering problems. The fourth phase concerned the general subject of nondestructive testing of wire ropes used for mine hoists.
